The effect of E-leaning
Overall ICT has impacted education in a number of ways:
a. Reducing the cost of education
b. Improving the quality of education and;
c. expanding and widening access to education
ICT’s can improve access to and promote equity in education by providing educational opportunities to a greater number of students. Training teachers on ICT-related skills within the context of classroom objectives and activities ensures the development of skills in the integrated use of ICT in teaching
ICT allow coordination and emulation of learning activities which are very crucial in face to face teaching. This will be achieved through groupings, knowledge sharing, remote access and teamwork and coordinating task by virtual means.
E-learning is a promising tool for expanding and widening access of education it also allow new people to participate in education by increasing flexibility and participation compared to traditional face to face model, people of different walks of life are involved ie non mobile students, foreign students, rural students etc.
ICT allows large numbers of students to access education. This cannot be achieved in face to face learning experience. The students /teachers ratio, availability of rooms &building are major constraints in face to face setup.
ICT offers very cheap cost of reproduction and communication as a lesson through different means like digital recording, voice or video streaming. Through ICT infrastructure in education e-learning will be crucial to increase and widen rapid access to education in areas academic force cannot meet demand.
ICT through e-learning addresses the issue of students who cannot participate in education because of time, space and capacity constraints.
ICT also allows students to choose wide variety of learning paths, moreover e-learning can potentially allow students to take courses from several institutions.thank you.
